Prime

The work of discovery and discernment that comes before the tactical preparation. We set the tone for the season, check our foundations, calibrate to the purpose we want to pursue in this season, and settle into it. All before we actually do anything at all.

Sanctuary Season

November & December

Every seasonal distinction centers on purpose, not pace. Your standards and drive never shift, but where you're applying the effort does. This season invites you to redirect your efforts from output to presence.

Sanctuary means prioritizing your attention for what restores you: the traditions that bring you back to yourself, the people you choose again and again, the moments that remind you life is also about savoring what you've produced. Think of it as enjoying the fire you've tended all year by sitting close enough, and for long enough, to really feel its warmth.

It's a season to embody the discipline of experiencing what has been accomplished, instead of abandoning it for the thrill of what's next. A season that requires you to finish the year well instead of simply making it to the end. A season that holds you accountable to a year well-lived.

Seasonal Priorities

Choose THREE objectives in each of the following categories for this season.

Foundations Check

Sleep, hydration, movement, nutrition, nervous system regulation, environment. Every plan you draft is built on these foundations. On a scale of one to ten, rate how strong you feel you are in each of them today. Where 1 means you're running on empty and 10 means you're running with room to spare.

Foundations to Prioritize

Which foundations, if any, do you want to prioritize, or feel you must prioritize, to meet the needs of this season?

Prep

Plan with discernment. Here you'll note the events and commitments already on the calendar, get every holiday task out of your head and onto the page, choose the traditions you’d like to include, and commit to schedule time for year-end restoration.

Looking Ahead

November and December dates appear below for reference. Check the ones that are relevant for you, then add your own so you don't overlook any upcoming events, obligations or deadlines. Note the type of event for future planning reference.

Holiday Task Dump

Jot down everything holiday-related that's been on your mind: gifts, gatherings, orders, errands, the things you'd like to do and the things you feel like you should. If it's on your mind, get it out of your head and on paper where you can address it deliberately. Don't sort or judge any of the things yet, you can do that later. For now, just get it all down.

Traditions to Consider

Use this list as a jumping off point for seasonal activities you'd like to include. Cross reference with your own calendar of upcoming events and obligations, and pencil in any tasks, projects or deadlines you need to plan for to ensure they fit into your holiday schedule.

Year-End Restoration

Committing time for activities that are specifically intended to restore your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing is essential to creating and maintaining the energy and attention you will need to meet daily demands and make progress towards larger goals in every season. Choose at least three of these, or add your own, that you will schedule time for the end of the year.

Process

Routines that truly support your decisions, and the right kind of accountability along the way.

Routines to Cultivate

For each foundation you chose to prioritize, choose the routines you'll cultivate this season, or add your own. Your companion carries a short description of each one you choose.

Accountability

The one thing you can count on is the unexpected, and you need a plan for support during those moments. Who will you share this season with, and what kind of support serves you best?
